Men’s Lacrosse Uses Early Run to Secure No. 2 Seed

ROCHESTER, NY – Seniors Quinn McKercher and Quinn Conroy combined for 10 points on six goals and four assists to lead he Nazareth University Men's Lacrosse team to a convincing 17-9 victory over Alfred University Saturday in the final regular season game of the season.

The win moved the Golden Flyers (11-6 overall, 5-1 Empire 8) into the second-place position in the final Empire 8 standings and Nazareth will face Alfred (10-4, 4-2 Empire 8) in the semifinal round of the Empire 8 Tournament at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth on the NLPA Turf Field.

Nazareth used an early run with all four goals in the first quarter with three coming from the stick of McKercher for the early lead.

The teams traded goals early in the second quarter as Alfred closed to 6-3 but the Golden Flyers scored the final four goals of the half to take a 10-3 lead into the halftime intermission.

Nazareth added to the run with the first goal of the third quarter but the Saxons scored five of the next eight goals to trim the lead to 14-8 as the third period came to an end.

Nazareth regained control and scored the first three goals of the fourth period and Alfred added a late goal for the final score.

McKercher finished with six points on three goals and three assists and Conroy added three goals and an assist. Junior Owen Riley scored three goals and sophomore Kyle Rosenberger chipped in two goals and two assists while fellow sophomore Matthew Farrington finished with a goal and three assists.

Sophomore McLean Ralston had 15 saves for his 11th game with a double-digit saves total and his 11th win of the season.
