ROCHESTER, NY – Host Nazareth could not overcome losing 18-of-28 faceoffs on Sunday in its home-opener, falling 14-11 to Endicott.
Kyle Rosenberger led the Golden Flyers with three goals and one assist. McLean Ralson made a career-high 21 saves in the losing effort.
Nazareth drops to 1-1 on the season, while Endicott moves to 2-0.
It was 3-2 after the first quarter with goals coming from
William Meagher and
William O'Neill. The Gulls were able to up their lead to 5-2 early in the second quarter before
Quinn McKercher netted two fast goals for the Golden Flyers.
Meagher scored his second of the half with just over two minutes left from
Matthew Farrington to make the score 7-6 in favor of the Gulls.
Nazareth never led in the game and trailed 7-6 at the half.
Farrington made it 10-8 on a man-up opportunity and the Golden Flyers gave up one more heading to the fourth with the score 11-8.
Rosenberger, who scored all three of his goals in the fourth, made it 11-9 just :50 seconds in. After two Gulls goals, Rosenberger responded with a goal at 11:26 and then another at 3:52 to pull within 13-11.
The Gulls were later able to seal the game with under a minute to play.
The Golden Flyers finished 3-for-5 with the extra-man.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, hosting RIT at 4 p.m.
