Comeback Effort For Women's Hoops Comes Up Short At Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY – The Nazareth women's basketball team could not overcome an 18-point halftime deficit and dropped a 62-54 contest on the road at Houghton on Saturday. Sarina McDowell led the Golden Flyers with 18 points and seven rebounds. In the losing effort, the Golden Flyers set the single season record for blocks with 133 after collecting eight against the Highlanders. The previous high was 128 set in the 1986-87 season.

The loss snaps a seven-game win streak for the Golden Flyers who are now 21-3 overall and 13-2 in league play. Houghton caps a tremendous week in which it beat both St. John Fisher and Nazareth and is now 20-3 overall and 11-3 in league play.

The Golden Flyers are currently in second place in the conference standings with their final game of the season at St. John Fisher next Saturday. Houghton still plays at Hartwick and Sage.
