ROCHESTER, NY - The most successful season for the men's soccer program came in 2006 when it advanced all the way to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Championships. The men's soccer team had a thrilling run to get there, none more so than a dramatic 16-15 win in penalty kicks over Medaille in the second round of the NCAA Championships.
Nazareth downed Geneseo 2-0 in the opening round behind goals from Scott Rigney and Paul Pacitto. Christopher Lofgren and Justin Stevens netted goals against Medaille as the 2-2 contest went to penalty kicks, where Golden Flyers pulled off the thrilling 16-15 win.
In the next rounds against UC Santa Cruz, Stevens scored the lone goal to advance to the Elite 8 against NYU. Nazareth fell to NYU 1-0.
Nazareth finished the season 15-5-3.Â
