Men's Soccer Defeats Houghton 2-1

HOUGHTON, NY- The Nazareth Golden Flyers defeated the Houghton University Highlanders in a conference matchup on Saturday at Burke Field. A goal by sophomore Jack Lannon along with a goal by Gibson Spector gave the Golden Flyers a 2-1 victory. 
 
Nazareth's record is now 6-2-2 and Houghton is 2-7-1.
 
Five minutes into the game, sophomore Jack Lannon scored his first goal of the season off a corner kick by Drew Decker right outside of the 18 yard box leading 1-0. 
 
The Golden Flyers possessed most of the first half, but were unable to generate many opportunities.
 
Both the Golden Flyers and the Highlanders had 3 shots on net in the first half.
 
The score at the end of the first half was 1-0.
 
Nazareth continued to possess most of the second half generating more shots on net. 
 
In the 82nd minute, the Highlanders tied up the game off a penalty kick (1-1).
 
Nazareth took a 2-1 lead with 2 minutes left in the game off a foot race by Gibson Spector. 
 
The Golden Flyers out shot the Highlanders 12-7 in the second half. 
 
Liam Brandt had 3 saves.
 
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Brockport College for a 7 p.m. contest.
