Box Score GENESEO, NY- The Golden Flyers won an exciting four-set match against SUNY Geneseo Friday night in the first conference match of the season.
Tessa Grover had a big offensive game, scoring in key moments, totaling 18 kills.

Nazareth won 3-1 (25-14, 27-25, 20-25, and 25-20). The Golden Flyers are now 6-8 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

In the first set, the Golden Flyers jumped out to a great start, holding Geneseo to seven points as Nazareth scored 20. At a score of 24-10, the Knights went on a four point run, to make the set more interesting, but a service error gave Nazareth the 25-14 win.

The second set was much more back and forth. In fact, they were within two points of each other all the way up until Geneseo had a six-point run towards the end of the set, forcing Nazareth to fight back from a four-point deficit at 20-16. Nazareth answered the Knights' run with one of their own, striking back with six points in a row. When Geneseo was up 25-24, the Golden Flyers scored three consecutive points to win the set 27-25, two of which were results of kills by
Leah Fusilli and Grover.

The start of the third set was similar to the start of the second, back and forth. Geneseo went on a late run at a score of 18-14, a deficit the Golden Flyers were not able to come back from. Nazareth dropped the set 25-20.

In the final set, Nazareth went on a six-point run early on to lead the Knights 9-5. The Golden Flyers held that lead for the duration of the set, taking home the win with a final set score of 25-20.

Grover led the offensive efforts with 18 kills, while also tacking on 15 assists.
Ruth Jackson added 10 kills, while teammate
Alana Lucey added six. Defensively,
Zoe Tylipakis led the charge with 14 digs.
Ella Kules led in assists with 20 while also adding 12 digs.
Jenna Mattison had five assists and 10 digs.
Zipporah Sparkman led the blocking efforts with four.

th in another conference match against Brockport at 2 p.m.
