Women's Soccer Shuts Out Elmira on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Women's soccer shut-out Elmira 3-0 while celebrating the Golden Flyers' seniors Annika Monfort, Haley Glassman, Grace Palczewski, Margaret Partlow, and McKenna Miller.
 
The Golden Flyers now have an overall record of 9-5-2 and a conference record of 6-2-2.
 
In the first half, the Golden Flyers created many scoring opportunities, with a total of 14 shots, but only one shot connected with the back of the net.
 
At a time of 22:50, Alice O'Connor placed a ball ahead of Tatum Overton to score and put up the only goal of the first half.
 
Nazareth's stellar first-half defense held the Soaring Eagles to only two shots, both of which were saved by Annika Monfort.
 
At the end of the first half, the Golden Flyers led 1-0.
 
The second half was also very quiet with scoring, despite opportunities for the Golden Flyers, who had multiple shots that were just barely off, or saved by Elmira's goalies.
 
Nazareth did not score in the second half until the 82:58-minute mark when Lauryn Obey connected with Lauren Richie to find the back of the net and extend the lead to 2-0.
 
Just over three minutes of game play later, Shannon Sgombick scored an unassisted goal to finish the scoring for the game.
 
In the second half, Monfort had multiple key saves to hold Elmira scoreless. In total, Monfort had four saves.
 
The game ended in a 3-0 shutout in favor of the Golden Flyers.
 
The Golden Flyers will be back in action on October 30th at 7 p.m. against host St. John Fisher for their last conference match-up before playoffs.
