ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth women's soccer defeated the visiting SUNY Poly Wildcats with authority in a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday evening.
Makaelynn Neivel led the offense with six points.
The Golden Flyers now have an overall record of 8-5-2 and a conference record of 5-2-2.
The first half of the game was silent scoring wise until 32 minutes in, when Neivel found the back of the net, after swiping the ball from a SUNY Poly defender.
Three minutes later, Neivel crossed a pass to
Grace Palczewski, who scored with her head to put Nazareth up 2-0.
At the half, the Golden Flyers led 2-0, and out-shot SUNY Poly 16-2.
At the 58 minute mark,
Tatum Overton found the foot of
Lauren Richie, who slid a pass to
Emily Berlinski to score for Nazareth.
Ten minutes later, Neivel scored another unassisted goal for the Golden Flyers to increase the lead to 4-0.
Neivel followed up her second goal with another assist, this time to
Lauryn Obey with 14 minutes remaining in the game.
Paige Gentile connected with
Camryn Schiavitti, who put it in the back of the net to set the final score of 6-0 with only two minutes remaining.
Nazareth had 33 shots to SUNY Poly's four.
Annika Monfort had one save, while
Delaney Malone had two.
The Golden Flyers will be back in action on October 26
th at 1 p.m. at Golden Flyer Stadium for another conference game against Elmira.
