ROCHESTER, NY – Third-seed Nazareth made quick work of sixth-seeded Brockport 6-0 on Wednesday in the Empire 8 Quarterfinals. With the win, Nazareth advances to the semifinals against No. 2 Geneseo at 3 p.m. on Friday, hosted by the top overall seed Hartwick. The outdoor venue is at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Sharp Courts at Burdett Rd., Troy, NY 12180. The indoor venue is Tri City Fitness at 944 Loudon Rd, Latham, NY 12110.
Nazareth opened with three points after doubles play.
Catherine Zak and
Kenna Ellis did not drop a game at first doubles.
Sarah Stone and
Ali Klee took second doubles 8-2, while
Victoria Cioni and
Anna Spencer won third doubles 8-1.
Zak and Ellis each cruised to victories at first and second singles, respectively. Zak won 6-0, 6-1 and Ellis won 6-1, 6-1.
Victoria Cioni secured the other point 6-3, 6-0.
Nazareth will look to avenge a regular season loss to Geneseo on September, 17, an 8-1 loss.
