Lauren Richie scored her first goal of the season and
Annika Monfort registered her 30
thshutout to set the Nazareth career record in the Golden Flyers 1-0 win over Sage on Saturday.
Nazareth is now 6-4-2 overall and 3-1-2 in conference play, while Sage drops to 3-6-3 and 2-3-1, respectively.
After 78 minutes of scoreless action, Richie was able to break through off an assist from
Tatum Overton. Richie took a pass, made a chop to her left foot and slid the ball on the ground into the side netting from 18-yards out.
Monfort, who surpassed Erin Jacobs '98 mark of 29 career shutouts, had a miraculous save diving to her left in the 85
th minute to keep the Gators of the board. She finished with two saves to register the shutout. The two-time Empire 8 Goalie of the Year had nine shutouts each in her freshman and junior campaigns, eight as a sophomore, and four as a senior.
In the 28
th minute,
Grace Palczewski nearly scored off a header on a corner kick, but it was cleared by the near post defender before it went in the goal.
The Gators best chance of the first half came with under three minutes as a giveaway allowed for a free shot from just outside the 18 that skimmed outside the post.
Nazareth finished the game with a 14-4 edge in shots.
The Golden Flyers travel to Geneseo on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
