ROCHESTER, NY – Visiting Williams College scored two third period goals and capped a come-from-behind victory on Tuesday night, downing Nazareth 3-2 in overtime.
Nazareth falls to 7-5-2 with the loss and Williams moves to 6-3-2 with the win.
Nazareth got the first two tallies of the game.
Ella Cedrone nearly started the scoring five minutes in, stealing a pass on the forecheck and firing the puck off the pipe.
With just over three minutes left in the period, Cedrone notched one of the goals of the year to give Nazareth the 1-0 lead. She took the puck through the neutral zone, deked an Ephs defender with a toe drag, and slapped it into the net.
The score remained 1-0 until late in the second period when
Makenna Wiljanen used a strong forecheck to steal the puck and find
Meredith Boettcher for the goal. Boettcher is now tied with
Ingrid Holstad for the team lead in goals with six. It was 2-0 after two periods.
The Ephs scored midway through the third and then evened the game with an extra skater with 2:12 remaining in the third period.
It didn't take long for Williams to complete the comeback in overtime as Sophia Hoppe notched the game-winner :40 seconds in.
McKinley Hoff made 28 saves between the pipes.
