Women's Hoops Keeps It Rolling With 70-50 Win At Utica

UTICA, NY – The Nazareth women's basketball team continued its dominance over Empire 8 foes on Tuesday night, downing Utica 70-50. Nazareth now has 10 conference wins after Tuesday and of those 10 wins, seven have come by at least 20 points. Molly Benetti led all scorers with 20 points on 9-for-12 from the floor.
 
The Golden Flyers move to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in Empire 8 play, while Utica drops to 5-13 overall and 2-7. Nazareth is now just one shy of its total wins from a season ago (19) which marked the most since the 1999-2000 season when the Golden Flyers went 19-9.
 
In the first half, Nazareth was 18-for-40 from the floor, but just 1-for-12 from 3-point land.
 
Olivia Dobrovosky scored four-straight baskets for the visitors to bring the score to 34-19 with just over three minutes to play. She finished the game with 14 points and six rebounds. The graduate student has scored at least 14 points in each of the last five games. 
 
Nazareth led 38-22 at the half. 
 
The 16-point differential was the closest Utica would come the rest of the game. 
 
Benetti was the fourth leading scorer in the conference at 14.1 points per game heading into the matchup with Utica. 
 
Kiara Anglin was in double figures with 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Sarina McDowell was good for eight points and four rebounds.

Katie MacLachlan chipped in seven points, five rebounds and a game-high six assists. Leah Fusilli was responsible for five points, seven rebounds and three steals.
 
The Golden Flyers return home for a three-game homestand, beginning Friday when they host Alfred at 5:30 p.m.
