ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth University Field Hockey team ran into a solid Hartwick squad Saturday and dropped an 8-0 decision in Empire 8 action on the NLPA Turf Field.
Hartwick (6-1, 2-0 E8) scored four times in the first quarter for the early lead but the Nazareth (0-8, 0-2 E8) held strong in the second period and did not allow a goal. In the second half, the Hawks scored twice in each quarter for the final score.
Nazareth used all four goalies on the roster as the quartet combined for 28 saves and the defenders also picked up a pair of defensive saves. Freshman goalie Morgan Russo led the netminders with 18 saves and three goals allowed over a 36-minute span of action.
Nazareth continues the Empire 8 schedule Tuesday against Houghton with a 6 p.m. game on the turf field and will play at Elmira Saturday.
