ROCHESTER, NY – The College of Wooster scored a goal in each of the first two quarters to take a 2-0 lead at the halftime break and added three goals in the final two periods to post a 5-0 victory over the Nazareth University Field Hockey team Saturday afternoon on the NLPA Artificial Turf field.
Nazareth (0-2) was outshot 18-1 in the opening half but the goalie combination of sophomores Madilyn Satter and Lauren Bachner combined to make 11 saves to keep the game close.
In the third quarter, Wooster (1-0) added to its lead with a goal as time on a Nazareth penalty was expiring to take a 3-0 lead. The Fighting Scots added a goal at the end of the period and scored again in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter for the final score.
Nazareth used three goalies and the trio combined for 21 saves on the day.
The Golden Flyers have a pair of games on the road at Brockport and Skidmore before returning Sept. 13 to face William Smith with a 6 p.m. game on the turf field.
