Men's Lax Suffers 18-9 Defeat To #1 RIT

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Quinn Conroy tallied three goals as Nazareth was doubled up, 18-9, on Wednesday at defending national champion and No. 1-ranked RIT in non-conference action.

Nazareth is now 1-2 overall, while the Tigers move to 3-0.  RIT continued its success against the Golden Flyers, having won each of last 16 contests dating back to 2010.

Nazareth trailed 9-3 at the half. Shots were 30-15 in favor of the Tigers and Eric Almquist made nine of his 18 saves in half. Carson Pickeral played the final 3:48 of the game, allowing one goal and making one save.

Conroy took a pass from William O'Neill to even the score at 1-1 five minutes into the game.

Nazareth scored the last goal of the first quarter to make it 6-2 on an unassisted goal from Greg Bilek. Bilek is tied for the team lead with seven points on the year (3 G, 4 A).

Quinn McKercher added a goal in the second quarter.

RIT opened its lead to 12-3 before the Golden Flyers found the net again on Bilek's second of the day. That was followed up by a goal from O'Neill on the man-up to make it 12-5 past the midway point of the third.

O'Neill got his second on the man-up with just over a minute left in the third. The score was 13-6 heading into the final quarter.

The Tigers scored the next four goals to put some distance between them and the Flyers. Conroy had two more goals in the fourth and the final goal came from Max Popolizio.

Nazareth returns home on Saturday, hosting Clarkson at 1 p.m.
