Nazareth Runs Away from Keuka in Empire 8 Road Opener

KEUKA PARK, NY – Freshman Jaylen Savage scored 21 points and graduate student Jonathan Park added 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Nazareth Men's Basketball team to a convincing 91-63 win over Keuka in the first Empire 8 road game of the season.

Nazareth (9-1 overall, 3-0 E8) jumped out to an early lead but Keuka (5-3, 1-2 E8) battled back to close the gap to three points at 11-8 five minutes into the contest.

Over the next eight minutes, the Golden Flyers went on a 16-0 sparks by seven points by senior Jordan Haggard as well as four points each from Savage and senior Logan Blankenberg as Nazareth opened up a 19-point advantage.

The trio each scored in double figures in the first half as Savage and Haggard each had 11 and Blankenberg added 10 as the Golden Flyers led 52-34 at the break.

Early in the second half, Nazareth extended the lead on the strength of a 23-5 run and the Golden Flyers cruised to the conference road victory.

Savage led all scorers with 21 points while Park and Haggard each chipped in 17 and Blankenberg added 15 points. Park grabbed 16 rebounds and sophomore Jack Broderick chipped in eight points seven rebounds and four steals. Graduate student Zach Stenglein finished with seven points and a team-high six assists.

Nazareth continues the string of road games with Empire 8 games at Medaille (Friday) and Houghton (Saturday) before the first home game of the second semester next Tuesday against Utica.
