UTICA, N.Y. – Host SUNY Polytechnic Institute erupted for three goals in under an eight minute span early in the second half en route to a 3-1 victory over Nazareth on Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup.
It was Nazareth's first loss of the season. They now are 2-1 on the year, while the Wildcats move to 1-1.

Cuneyt Vardar extended his goal streak to three games, scoring in the 35
th minute off an assist from
Jay Granto. It was Vardar's team-leading sixth goal of the season. Granto was credited with his first collegiate assist.
The visitors led 1-0 at the break.
After registering just two shots in the opening half, Aboubacar Camara made good on the Wildcats first shot of the second, getting behind the Golden Flyer defense and poking it past goalkeeper
Logan Menna at the 51:17 mark.
Less than five minutes later, SUNYPoly was awarded a penalty kick and Wakely Banker helped the hosts take a 2-1 advantage.
Just 1:39 later the lead ballooned to 3-1 on a goal by Edgar Gomez.
Nazareth was credited with 14 shots compared to just eight for SUNY Poly.
The Golden Flyers will remain on the road for their next contest, taking on Brockport on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
