DELAWARE, OH – The Nazareth field hockey team dropped a 4-0 contest on Sunday to undefeated Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference matchup.
With the loss, Nazareth falls to 0-3 on the season, while Ohio Wesleyan moves to 3-0.
Goalie Mackenzie Halliday had a busy first half, facing 26 shots and making 10 saves.
The Bishops were able to get on the board first off a penalty corner. Ohio Wesleyan's Allie Crawford had her intial shot saved by Halliday off the penalty corner with 4:23 left in the first quarter, but Sarah Hanley was able to cash in on the rebound to take a 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 until late in the second quarter when the Bishops were awarded a penalty corner and Crawford made good on the attempt.
Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Ten minutes into the third quarter the Bishops saw their third scorer of the game in Alyssa Markell.
The hosts added one more goal in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
In all, Ohio Wesleyan held a 37-1 advantage in shots for the game.
Halliday made eight saves in three quarters of play for the Golden Flyers. Madilyn Satter played 11:19 in net, making two saves and allowing goal. Lauren Bachner closed out the game and made one save.
Nazareth will host their first home game of the season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Brockport.
