BETHLEHEM, PA – Senior Nathan Bowers recorded a personal best time by nearly 13 seconds to finish 13th overall and junior Matt Reimann was 14th with a PR of more than a minute to lead the Nazareth Men's Cross Country team to a third place team finish Friday afternoon at the Paul Short Invitational Meet hosted by Lehigh University.
Bowers clocked a 25:26.9 and Reimann crossed the line in 25:31.7 as the duo ran near the front of a pack of about a dozen runners that finished behind the lead group of nine runners.
Nazareth finished with 170 points placing third overall. Cortland was first with 115 points and Hamilton (146 points) was second. Catholic (182) was fourth and Franciscan (Ohio) (206) was fifth. The race features 40 teams and nearly 350 runners.
Sophomore Cade Eells was the next finisher for Nazareth with a 26th place finish in 25:55.0 for a personal best while fellow sophomore Ethan Kenyon also finished with a career-best 26:16.2 in 41st place and freshman Joey Everts had a PR of more than two minutes with his 26:40.6 and a 77th place finish. Nazareth finished with a scoring spread of just 1:13.7.
Also finishing for Nazareth in the college race was junior Kenny William (27:02.9), freshman Antonio Benitez (27:15.2), senior Nathan McNally (27:19.5) and junior Ethan Glashauser (27:27.5).
In the men's open race, freshman Connor Jackson ran a PR of 27:24.6, graduate student Patrick Healy had a personal best with a 28:17.4, freshman Cameron Almy ran a PR with his 28:18.2, freshman Gavin McAllister ran his first 8K with a time of 29:30.9 and freshman Aiden Meyer had a PR with his 30:06.5.
The Golden Flyers are off until October 15th when the squad travels to Oberlin, OH for the Inter-Regional Rumble.
