ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Kaylee Kelly had a game-high 12 kills and sophomore Tessa Grover handed out 22 assists for the Nazareth Women's Volleyball team but the Golden Flyers dropped a 3-1 decision Wednesday in a non-conference match with Oswego.
Oswego (12-6) won the opening set 25-13 but Nazareth (4-10) rebounded to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 win in the second set. The Lakers rallied to win the final two sets 25-14 and 25-16 to wrap up the match.
In the first set, the score was tied at 6-6 before Oswego scored seven of nine points to take a 13-8 lead and then rallied for an 11-1 run to take a commanding lead. Kelly recorded a pair of kills down the stretch but it was not enough as the Lakers won 25-14.
In the second set, Nazareth jumped out to an early lead at 10-5 and put together a run of 6-1 to pull away.
Oswego had early runs in both the third and fourth sets to put the match away.
Kelly finished with 12 kills and seven digs. Grover had 22 assists and six digs. Ruth Jackson had three kills, four aces and four digs.
Nazareth returns to Empire 8 play Friday against Hartwick and then faces Russell Sage and non-conference foe Ithaca in Saturday matches.
