ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman
Mackenzie Halliday made a career-high 25 saves as visiting Geneseo defeated Nazareth 5-0 on Wednesday night on the Artificial Turf. Halliday currently ranks 14
th in the nation with 11.80 saves per game.
Nazareth falls to 1-6 on the season, while Geneseo improves to 4-2.
The Golden Flyers held tough in the opening frame, holding Geneseo off the scoreboard with Halliday racking up 10 saves.
The balanced Knights attack, which saw five different scorers in the game, was able to break through at the 16:32 mark on a goal by Maggie Phipps.
The relentless Geneseo attack then found the net twice more in less than a minute and half span to up the lead to 3-0, a margin that they would take into halftime.
Freshman
Audra Mieczkowski had a stellar game for the Nazareth defense, picking up three defensive saves, including two in the second quarter. She currently ranks 27
th in the country in defensive saves with five and number one in the Empire 8 conference.
The Knights were able to tack on two more goals in the third period to close out the scoring.
Nazareth will face an important conference matchup on the road Saturday, squaring off against Hartwick at 11 a.m.
