Women’s Soccer Suffers Second Setback of the Season

GENESEO, NY – After suffering just one loss in the first five games of the season, the Nazareth Women's Soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision at Geneseo Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Flyers will play eight of the next nine games in Empire 8 conference play.

Geneseo (3-3-1) scored three times in the first half including the first goal five minutes into the game. Despite the 3-0 deficit, Nazareth (1-2-3) trailed 4-3 in shots in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Knights applied more offensive pressure and scored two more goals to extend the lead. Geneseo held an 11-2 edge in shots over the final 45 minutes.

Sophomore Annika Monfort played the first 76 minutes in goal for the Golden Flyers and made five saves while freshman Delaney Malone completed the game and made one save.

Nazareth will begin Empire 8 play Saturday at Keuka with a 1 p.m. game.
