BUFFALO, NY – The Nazareth women's volleyball took to the road on Wednesday, falling in straight sets to Buffalo State, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21.
With the loss, Nazareth falls to 2-5 overall, while Buffalo State improves to .500. at 3-3.
The Golden Flyers had their best set in the first, when they put down 12 kills on 36 attempts. After trailing by as many as seven points early in the set, the Golden Flyers clawed all the back to even the score at 23 apiece. Following a timeout, the Bengals were able to score the next two points to close out the set.
Freshman
Jenna Mattison, who had two service aces in the match, gave Nazareth an 11-8 lead in the second set. The home squad rebounded thereafter, scoring the next eight points of the set to take control.
Eva Lyko led Nazareth with eight kills on 26 attempts (.231).
Kaylee Kelly also had eight assists to go along with eight digs.
Tessa Grover had a team-high 23 assists, with five digs. Mattison had eight digs.
The Golden Flyers will have the RIT Invitational coming up for the weekend, beginning with Geneseo at 7 p.m. on Friday.
