Golden Flyers (0-3) visit Connecticut College Thursday

GENEVA, N.Y. – Seventh-ranked William Smith dominated visiting Nazareth in a non-conference women's lacrosse game Saturday as the Herons built a 12-2 halftime lead and went on to a 19-5 victory at the Poole Family Dome.

Emma Robinson had three goals for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 0-3. Reva Mussi and Maggie Vay also scored for Nazareth. William Smith improved to 3-0 with the one-sided win.

The Herons outshot Nazareth 14-2 in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead. The Herons also scored first in the second quarter to go up 9-0 before Nazareth broke through on a goal by Mussi. Robinson added her first goal of the game later in the quarter, but by then William Smith was comfortably in front.

Vay scored for Nazareth in the third quarter and Robinson added two more in the fourth. Annie Rubel and Mussi had assists.

Maddie Montgomery had five goals and one assist for William Smith while Anna Murphy and Kaitlin Pellechia scored three times each.

William Smith had large advantages in shots (39-15), ground balls (17-7) and draw controls (17-10). Emma Parry had three draw controls for Nazareth.

Nazareth plays two road games next week during spring break. The Golden Flyers visit Connecticut College Thursday and New Paltz Saturday. Both start times are 12 p.m.
