PITTSFORD, NY – The Nazareth College Women's Basketball team struggled in the second quarter and St. John Fisher was able to take advantage and push to a double-digit lead at halftime as the Cardinals cruised to an 83-52 victory in the championship game of the Empire 8 Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flyers (17-10) hit just 4-of-15 shots from the field in the second period while St. John Fisher (25-2) connected on 7-of-19 shots including five 3-pointer to take a 42-31 lead into the halftime intermission.
Nazareth started strong and held a 21-16 lead after one quarter but St. John Fisher took the lead midway through the second quarter on one of its five 3-pointers in the period.
The Cardinals momentum continued into the third quarter with a 25-12 scoring edge in the period as St. John Fisher built a comfortable 67-43 lead heading into the final quarter.
