ALBANY, NY – Senior Caroline Desautels scored twice and fellow senior Grace Wasileski added a goal and an assist to lead the Nazareth Field Hockey team to a 4-1 win over Russell Sage in an Empire 8 game at the University at Albany.
All five goals in the game came in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Wasileski started the scoring spurt for Nazareth (2-10 overall, 2-3 Empire 8) with her second goal of the season with 9:25 left to play.
Desautels made it a 2-0 game with an assist from Wasileski three minutes later but Sage (0-9, 0-5 Empire 8) cut the lead in half with a goal 2:30 later. The goal was the first for the Gators in almost 400 minutes of action.
As time was running out, sophomore Hannah Janes and Desautels each added goals in the final 1:15 of the contest.
Nazareth dominated the statistics with a 37-8 edge in shots and a 13-6 lead in penalty corners.
Freshman goalie Lauren Bachner made her second consecutive start and finished with two saves in her first win and first shutout.
Nazareth returns home for a non-conference game against SUNY Oneonta at 2 p.m. Sunday on the Artificial Turf Field.
