Field Hockey Falls to William Smith, 6-0

GENEVA, N.Y.- Visiting Nazareth hung tough for three quarters, surrendering just one goal to William Smith, before the Herons erupted for five in the final frame to pick up a 6-0 win over the Golden Flyers on Wednesday.
 
With the loss, Nazareth drops to 1-10 on the season, while William Smith improves to 9-2 overall.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Bachner got her first-career start between the pipes, making 19 saves.
 
The Herons were unable to break through until the 37:11 mark as Lauren Jackson followed up her rebound from a penalty corner to make it 1-0.
 
William Smith was able to ramp up the pressure in the fourth, registering 17 of its 43 total shots and scoring on five of them. 

Jackson scored her second of the day off a penalty stroke just over a minute into the fourth and the Herons added another penalty stroke tally at 56:14 to make it 4-0. Five of the Herons eight penalty corners came in the final quarter.
 
Nazareth had their lone penalty corner 2:29 into the fourth quarter, with Avery Tanton registering a blocked shot on the opportunity. Grace Wasileski registered Nazareth's other shot for the game.
 
Nazareth has two more games upcoming, beginning with traveling to the University of Albany on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest against Sage. The Golden Flyers will host Oneonta at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
