Volleyball Drops Two matches to End Regular Season

GLASSBORO, NJ – Sophomore Zoe Tylipakis had 15 kills and fellow sophomore Tessa Grover finished the day with 13 kills as the Nazareth Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the regular season with a 3-0 loss to Rowan and a 3-1 loss to Hunter at the Rowan Invitational Tournament in New Jersey.

Rowan downed Nazareth by set scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-14. In the Hunter match the Hawks won the opening set 25-22 but Nazareth (10-18) battled back to win a 26-24 second set. Hunter closed out the victory with 25-21 and 25-23 scores in the final two sets.

Grover had nine assists, three blocks and six digs in the Rowan match to go along with her four kills. In the Hunter match, Grover added nine kills, 29 assists, two aces and four digs.

Tylipakis had 10 digs to go along with her four kills in the opener and added 11 kills and eight digs against Hunter.

Against Rowan, sophomore Ella Kules recorded four aces and added six more in the Hunter match. Freshman Jenna Mattison led the team with 18 digs against Rowan while senior Eva Lyko chipped in eight kills and three aces against Hunter.

Senior Kaylee Kelly had six kills, 11 digs and a pair of aces against the Hawks and junior Jillian Panek added six kills and three digs in the Hunter match.

Nazareth returns home to open postseason play with a home match against Utica at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the Empire 8 Tournament.
