Lilianna Hanning Takes Second at the Empire 8 Championships

HOUGHTON, NY – Junior Lilianna Hanning was the second runner to cross the finish line Saturday as she led the Nazareth Women's Cross Country team to a second place team finish at the Empire 8 Championships hosted by Houghton.

Hanning ran a career-best 22:57.7 and was just two seconds behind the top finisher in the race.

Her finish led Nazareth to a second place finish with 55 points. St. John Fisher (44 points) won the team title and Houghton was third with 59 points. Utica (118) was fourth followed by Alfred (120), Russell Sage (171), Hartwick (197), Medaille (217) and Keuka (230).

Senior Emily Weaver was the next Nazareth runner to finish as she took fifth with a time of 23:33.4.

Four Golden Flyers crossed the line together led by freshman Ella Impaglia (24:20.2) in 15th place followed by junior Paige Ackley (24:21.5), senior Alexis Anagnostopulos (24:26.9) and sophomore Peyton Tripp (24:28.5).

Senior Megan Morin (25:05.9) and junior Leigha Gould (25:40.5) also finished among the top 30 runners in the race.

Nazareth will run next at the Niagara Regional NCAA Qualifier race November 12 at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester.
