ITHACA, NY – The Nazareth Field Hockey team surrendered a pair of goals in each half Wednesday as Ithaca College scored a 4-0 win over the Golden Flyers in the final non-conference game of the season.
After a scoreless first quarter, Ithaca (14-3) tallied a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead at the halftime intermission. The shots were close in the first half as the Bombers held just a 3-1 edge in the opening quarter but took an 11-2 edge into the break.
The Ithaca offense used the momentum to dominate play in the final two periods with 23 shots over the last 30 minutes but the Nazareth (4-14) was strong allowing just two goals with one in the third quarter and one in the fourth for the final score.
Nazareth freshman goalie Madilyn Satter started the game and played the first 40 minutes action and made six saves. Freshman Mackenzie Halliday played the next 15 minutes and had six saves while freshman Lauren Bachner made three saves in a scoreless final five minutes of play.
Freshman Audra Mieczkowski and sophomore Madison Chodkowski each had defensive saves for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth will complete the regular season Saturday at Keuka with a chance to advance to the Empire 8 Tournament. The winner of the game will earn one of the final spots in the tournament field.
