Nazareth blanked by UR in women's soccer, 3-0

Golden Flyers (0-2-1) visit St. Lawrence Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's offensive woes in women's soccer continued Monday at home as the Golden Flyers dropped a 3-0 women's soccer decision to the University of Rochester in non-conference action.

The Yellowjackets evened their overall record at 1-1, while Nazareth dropped to 0-2-1. The Golden Flyers managed 11 shots in Monday's game, but have generated just two goals in their first three games.

Rochester scored first-half goals in the 15th and 34th minute to take a 2-0 advantage. Then with the momentum seemingly turning toward Nazareth early in the second half, the Yellowjackets erased any comeback hopes with a third goal in the 50th minute.

Caleigh Cahoon generated three of Nazareth's 11 shots, including two that were saved by Rochester keeper Emma Schechter, who had six saves overall for the shutout.

Freshman Annika Monfort gained the start in goal for Nazareth had was credited with one save while yielding three goals. Gabrielle Pighetti played the final 34 minutes and had one save.

Mia McGinty, Jordyn Kowalkowski and Sarah Martin scored for the Yellowjackets, who snapped a four-game losing streak against the Golden Flyers in women's soccer.

Nazareth returns to action Saturday at St. Lawrence for another non-conference game at 2 p.m.
