CANTON, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth generated the the bulk of the scoring opportunities Saturday, but neither team could find the back of the net as the Golden Flyers settled for a 0-0 tie in a non-conference game at St. Lawrence.
Nazareth unleashed 30 shots and 15 corner kicks before watching their overall record change to 0-2-2. St. Lawrence is 3-0-1 overall.
Six of Nazareth's shots came within the two 10-minute overtime periods, including five in the second overtime. Nazareth also had a 6-0 edge in overtime corner kicks.
Perhaps Nazareth's best scoring opportunity came with less than seven minutes left as
McKayla Hughes one-timed a shot that came off a corner kick by
Caleigh Cahoon. Saints' goalkeeper Keely Snode was able to make the point-blank save -- one of 12 she had in the game overall. Then with less than two minutes to play, another shot by Hughes was ticketed to settle inside the right goal post before a St. Lawrence defender alertly cleared the ball off the goal line.
Cahoon generated five of Nazareth's shots, including two on goal. Freshman
Haley Glassman had four shots with two on goal.
Freshman
Annika Monfort played all 110 minutes in goal and made seven saves to gain her first career shutout.
The Golden Flyers are back home Wednesday for another non-conference game against Geneseo at 4:30 p.m.
