ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth dominated visiting Hilbert from start to finish in men's soccer Tuesday as the Golden Flyers scored six times in the first half and went on to take a 9-0 victory on the artificial turf field.
Sophomore
Cooper LaValley and freshman
Jake Pawlika each scored two goals as Nazareth won its fourth straight game to improve to 5-1-1 overall. Hilbert dropped to 0-6. Nazareth resumes its Empire 8 Conference schedule Saturday at Keuka at 1 p.m.
Nazareth unleashed 31 shots on the Hawks with six finding the back of the net in the first half. LaValley and Pawlika each have six goals on the season to lead the Golden Flyers in scoring. LaValley scored twice in the first half and Pawlika scored less than two minutes into the game as Nazareth took control early.
Zakary Smith assisted on Pawlika's first goal.
LaValley's two goals came next -- just 22 seconds apart. Nazareth added three more first-half goals with junior
Andrew Vogler netting his first career goal in the 32nd minute.
Andrew Gengler and
Colin Brickwood each scored in the closing minutes
Pawlika's second goal came early in the second half with Smith gaining his second assist. Goals by
Zein Mohamed and
Tyler Long (his first career goal) closed out the Nazareth scoring Brickwood and freshman
Emmanuel Enock each had two assists in the game.
Nazareth used all three of its goalies -- freshman
Logan Menna and sophomores
Trevor Clark and
Patrick Larkin -- and none needed to make a save.
