ROCHESTER, NY – One day after downing Hartwick to start an Empire 8 weekend schedule, the Nazareth College Women's Tennis team swept a 9-0 decision over visiting Utica College Sunday to remain undefeated at 3-0 in conference play.
Nazareth (4-1 overall 3-0 E8) won the doubles matches 8-4 (no. 1) and 8-3 (no. 2 and no. 3) to take the early 3-0 lead.
In singles play, sophomore Alyia Guzman won a close match at No. 1 with a 10-4 tie-breaker win. The rest f the matches were straight-sets victories for the Golden Flyers.
Senior Lauren Carr won a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 3 and freshman Clarie Pullen was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at No. 2. Freshman Lily Bulkeley dominated her 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 while senior Caroline Breitweiser posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 and sophomore Katelyn Spath completed the win with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Nazareth continues Empire 8 play next weekend with a match against Houghton at 4 p.m. Friday and a 1 p.m. match Sunday against Russell Sage with both matches at home.
