Late Second Half Goal Gives Brockport a 1-1 Tie

BROCKPORT, NY – Graduate student Caleigh Cahoon scored the lone goal for the Nazareth College Women's Soccer team early in the second half but SUNY Brockport scored to tie the game in the final six minutes of regulation and the teams settled for a 1-1 tie as neither was able to score in overtime.

The Cahoon goal – the 12th of her career – came off a pass from junior Megan McCraith less than 10 minutes into the second half to give Nazareth (0-0-1) the lead.

Brockport (0-0-1) tied the score on a direct kick from seven yards outside the 18-yard box at the 84:07 mark of the game.

The Golden Flyers held an advantage of 22-7 in shots and 11-5 in shots on goal but Brockport keeper Kayla Usbourne made 10 saves to keep the Golden Eagles in the game.

Freshman Annika Monfort made four saves for Nazareth in her first career start.

The Golden Flyers will host Cortland at 1 p.m. Saturday in the home opener for the 2021 season.
