PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Top-seeded St. John Fisher dominated visiting Nazareth in women's field hockey action Friday as the top-seeded Cardinals blanked the Golden Flyers, 6-0, in an Empire 8 Conference semifinal playoff game.
Nazareth ended its non-traditional season at 2-4 overall, while Fisher will compete in Sunday's E8 championship game against Hartwick at 5:30 p.m. The Cardinals improved to 6-0 overall.
Fisher's Bre Socker scored five of Fisher's six goals in a game in which Fisher outshot Nazareth 17-4. Fisher led 3-0 at halftime, then scored once in the third quarter and two more times in the fourth to complete the scoring.Â
Nazareth's scoring chances were limited with
Lydia Dewart generating two of Nazareth's four shots.
Grace Kelleher and
Caroline Desautels also had opportunities.
Amanda Chuttey had six saves in goal for Nazareth before
Jessica Holtz took over in the last nine minutes.
