UTICA, NY – Junior Katie Lawrence recorded a career-best 13 saves to lead the Nazareth College Women's Lacrosse team to a 15-9 Empire 8 victory over Utica College Saturday at Gaetano Stadium.
Nazareth (6-4 overall, 5-0 Empire 8) used a six-goal run late in the first half and into the second period to pull ahead and maintained a lead for the remainder of the game.
Sophomore Emma States had three of her five goals on the day in the run including the first two goals of the second half. The second goal of the second half gave Nazareth a 10-4 lead.
Utica (6-5, 3-2 E8) battled back with three of the next four goals to trim the lead to 11-7 but States scored two more goals as the Golden Flyers scored three of the last four goals of the game to secure the victory.
States added two assists to her five goals to tie her career-high seven points while senior Callahan Lyon added two goals and five assists for seven which was also a career-high effort.
Junior Emma Robinson had three goals and one assist and senior Regan McGwin had a pair of goals including the first goal of the game for Nazareth. Robinson added a career-best 10 draw controls. The Golden Flyers held a 17-9 advantage in the category for the day.
Sophomore Maren Wallace, senior Jordan Knapp and freshman Emily Paddock each scored single goals for Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers will host Alfred Tuesday and St. John Fisher Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
