Fourth-quarter surge lifts Nazareth past Russell Sage, 71-59

Golden Flyers (5-2 overall) visit Gators Sunday at 3 p.m.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Miyah Sizer came off the bench to score a career-high 20 points, including six in a productive fourth quarter for host Nazareth Friday, as the Golden Flyers defeated Russell Sage, 71-59, in women's basketball.

Nazareth outscored the Gators 22-8 over the final 10 minutes to improve to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference games. Sage dropped to 2-2 overall and in conference play.

Sizer went 6-for-12 from the field with one three-pointer and 7-or-9 from the foul line. She also had three assists. Junior Kim Davis also recorded a career-best 18 points to go with a game-high 15 rebounds and six blocked shots. Junior Jadyn Abrams added 17 points with three three-pointers.

Trailing 51-49 heading into the fourth quarter, the Golden Flyers gave up the first basket of the quarter before embarking on a 13-4 scoring run that lifted them to 62-57 lead with 4:41 to go. Sarah Simmons ignited the run with a three-pointer. Then Sizer's three-pointer with 7:05 to go gave Nazareth the lead for good at 57-55. Abrams also connected from long range and Elizabeth White scored in the paint to complete the run.

The Golden Flyers gradually pulled away in the closing minutes by making free throws. Sizer made 3-of-4 and Davis and Abrams each sank a pair to seal the victory.

Nazareth went 27-for-66 (40.9%) from the field and 12-for-15 from the foul line. Sammy Pasinella scored 21 for the Gators, who host the Golden Flyers Sunday at 3 p.m.
