GENESEO, NY – Juniors Emily Weaver and Megan Morin ran nearly step-for-step for the Nazareth College Women's Cross Country team and finished 18th and 19th respectively and led the Golden Flyers to a sixth place team finish Saturday at the Niagara Regional Championship at the Warplane Museum Field.
Geneseo won the team championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with 19 points and Rochester (70 points was second) followed by Ithaca (120), Hamilton (166), St. John Fisher (177) and Nazareth (184). The Golden Flyers finished five points in front of RIT (189) while NYU (195), Cortland (218) and Brockport (264) rounded out the top 10 team finishers.
Weaver clocked a 24:01.7 for her 18th place finish and Moring was just a few steps back at 24:04.5 in 19th position. Sophomore Lilianna Hanning was the third Nazareth finisher in 38th place (24:44.0) while freshmen Alaska Dunston (53rd – 25:15.6) and Peyton Tripp (57th – 25:31.6) finished the scoring runners for Nazareth.
