ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sixth-ranked William Smith dominated host Nazareth Wednesday in a non-conference women's soccer match as the Herons used a 28-7 advantage in shots to produce a 3-0 victory.
The Herons improved to 9-1-1 overall with their eighth win in a row, while Nazareth dropped to 3-5-3 overall. The Golden Flyers are hme again Saturday as they resume their Empire 8 Conference schedule against Utica at 1 p.m.
William Smith scored two of its goals in the first half with Julia Berg converting in the 19th minute, then Sarah Gray in the 43rd. Nazareth had a couple of chances in the opening minutes, but nothing too serious as William Smith's defense was difficult to solve.
Haley Glassman and
Geena Morotti produced shots early that were saved by Heron's keeper Amanda Kesler and
Mallory Ott had a long free kick late in the half that Kelser routinely handled.
Kesler finished with four saves for her sixth win of the season with four coming by shutout. Freshman
