GREENWICH, NY – Junior Megan Morin crossed the finish line in seventh place to pace the Nazareth College Women's Cross Country team as the Golden Flyers took second place overall Saturday in the Empire 8 Championship.
St. John Fisher won the team title with 30 points and Nazareth was second with 61 points. Houghton (75 points) was third followed by Sage (105), Utica (156), Alfred (156), Keuka (183) and Hartwick (196).
Morin clocked a career-best time of 23:18.4 beating her old top time by nearly 40 seconds. Sophomore Lilianna Hanning finished 11th in 23:42.7 and junior Emily Weaver was 12th with a 23:48.0 time.
Senior Claire Bargabos (24:09.5) led a pack of five Nazareth runners across the line in 15th position as freshman Peyton Tripp (24:17.4) was 16th, junior Giselle Rainville (24:22.9) was 17th, freshman Alaska Dunstan (24:23.5) was 19th and fellow freshman Ruth Desanctis (24:25.2) was 20th.
Junior Elizabeth Decker (24:50.8) was 25th while sophomore Paige Ackley (25:23.9) was 32nd and junior Alexis Anagnostopulos (25:50.0) was 34th.
Next up for the Golden Flyers will be the Niagara Region Championships November 16 hosted by Geneseo.
