ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Lauren Carr and freshmen Claire Pullen and Lily Bulkeley each recorded double wins to pace the Nazareth College Women's Tennis team to an 8-1 victory over Russell Sage Sunday in an Empire 8 match played indoors at the Golisano Training Center.
Pullen paired with sophomore Aliya Guzman for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and then posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for her two wins. Carr and Bulkeley won an 8-1 decision at No. 2 doubles and Carr added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles while Bulkeley posted a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles for her double win afternoon.
The No. 3 doubles pair of freshman Gwen Burns and Theresa Hecht won an 8-1 decision as Nazareth (6-1 overall, 5-0 E8) took the 3-0 match lead by sweeping the doubles matches.
Senior Caroline Breitweiser and sophomore Katelyn Spath each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively to round out the winning scores for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth returns to action 4 p.m. Friday with a key Empire 8 match at St. John Fisher.
