POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – After winning its fifth consecutive match Friday night at Sage, the win streak snapped with a pair of 3-0 losses Saturday at Vassar. The Golden Flyers fell in straight sets to host Vassar and then dropped a second match by the same score to Hunter.
Vassar won by set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 and then dropped a three-set loss to Hunter by set scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-18.
Against Vassar, senior Sean Dillon led Nazareth (8-13) with eight kills and sophomore Jason Proud handed out 19 assists. Senior Luis Vazquez and junior Antonio Sargent each had six digs to lead the defense.
In the Hunter match, Sargent, Dillon and senior Joe Crosby had seven kills each and Proud had 25 assists. Vazquez led the defense with eight digs.
Nazareth returns home for a tri-match next weekend as the Golden Flyers face SUNY Potsdam and Medaille at 12 and 4 p.m. respectively March 7 in Kidera Gymnasium.
