Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Buffalo State to Even Record

BUFFALO, NY – Freshman Emma States had four goals while senior Lily Aldrich and sophomore Emma Robinson added three each as the Nazareth College women's lacrosse team outscored Buffalo State 15-5 Wednesday to earn its first victory of the season and even its record at 1-1.

States scored three times in the first half including the first goal of the game just 48 seconds into the contest.

Aldrich, junior Tori Blazey and senior Emily Allen added goals in the first 10 minutes of action as Nazareth (1-1) took the 4-1 lead in the early part of the first half.

Aldrich notched her second goal of the game at the 19:34 mark before States scored twice in a span of 41 seconds to increase the lead. Junior Callahan Lyon scored less than 20 seconds later to give the Golden Flyers an 8-1 lead.

Buffalo State (0-1) scored its second goal with 5:15 left in the first half and Robinson scored the first of her three goals on the afternoon with five seconds left in the opening half as Nazareth took a 9-2 edge into the halftime break.

Aldrich, Robinson and sophomore Lauren Caldwell each scored in the first two minutes of the second half as Nazareth moved to the 10-goal advantage with 27:59 left.

Robinson and States added goals over the next three minutes before the Bengals answered with three consecutive goals at 15:33, 11:06 and the third at 1:44 to trim the lead to nine at 14-5.

Sophomore Phoebe Barnett scored with 52 seconds left to play to cap the scoring.

Aldrich finished with three goals and three assists for six points while States had four points and Robinson three points to lead the offense. Senior Dylan Hogan caused four turnovers and junior Vicki Arena had six draw controls for the Golden Flyers. Sophomore Katie Lawrence started in the Nazareth goal and made five saves in the first 45 minutes before fellow sophomore Emma Prosak played the final 15 minutes and finished with three saves.

Nazareth will play at William Smith 4 p.m. next Wednesday and have its first home game 11 a.m. March 7 against Rochester.
