ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fifth-ranked RIT scored three times within the first five minutes Wednesday and went on to build a 13-1 lead into the second quarter as the Tigers defeated Nazareth in a non-conference men's lacrosse game, 21-10, at NLPA Turf Field.

RIT went on to take a 14-4 halftime lead and extended that to 17-7 after three quarters and improved to 3-0 overall, while Nazareth dropped to 1-1.

RIT had 11 different goal scorers with Luke Pilcher, Ryan Barnable and Ryan Tandy netting three goals each. Dawson Tait and Ryan Rosenblum each had two goals and three assists.

Jeremy Jacob scored three times for the Golden Flyers and freshman Lucas Cobery had a pair of goals. Jon Roth, Clifford Pollard, Jon Lippert, Tristan Gosselin and Colin McElligott also scored and Griffin Avery had two assists.

Jacob's first goal, at 8:23 of the first period, interrupted the Tigers' opening three-goal run, but RIT closed out the quarter with three more goals to go up 6-1 after 15 minutes. The Tigers then scored the next seven goals over the first 8:25 of the second quarter to pull away. Cobery's first career goal halted RIT's string and Jacob and Gosselin each scored (both off assists by Avery) before the quarter ended for Nazareth.

Each team added three goals in the third quarter with Pollard scoring his first career goal in between tallies by McElligott and Roth. RIT's Pilcher scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter and Nazareth countered with goals from Lippert, Cobery and Jacob to close it out.

Eric Almquist started in goal for Nazareth and made 14 saves. Alex Winkler played the final 10+ minutes and had one save. Tim Vinton won 17 of 32 faceoffs and scooped up nine ground balls. Long-stick Owen Penoyer had three caused turnovers.

Nazareth resumes its non-conference schedule with its first road game Saturday in a first-ever meeting with the Endicott Gulls at 12 p.m. The Golden Flyers also visit Brockport Tuesday at 4 p.m.
