KEUKA PARK, NY – Junior Antonio Sargent recorded his fourth career high kills total in the last seven matches as he led the Nazareth College men's volleyball team with 21 kills and helped he Golden Flyers to a 3-1 victory over Keuka Wednesday night.
Nazareth (4-11) made the first set look easy with a 25-13 win to open the match but Keuka (5-7) rallied to take the second set 26-24 to even the score. The Golden Flyers rallied late in the third and again in the fourth to win both sets by 25-23 scores to secure the road victory.
Sargent had a career-high 18 kills against Geneva and added a second 18-kill effort the following day against Lasell before hitting the 20-kill mark against UC Santa Cruz for another career high.
His 21 kills against Keuka was the lone double-digit effort for the team as senior Joe Crosby had eight kills, a .583 attack percentage and four blocks for Nazareth. Sophomore Jason Proud handed out 35 assists and senior Sean Dillon served five aces. Senior Luis Vazquez led the defensive effort with 12 digs.
The Golden Flyers return home Saturday and will host a tri-match with Elizabethtown (12 p.m.) and D'Youville (4 p.m.) in Kidera Gymnasium.
