HERSHEY, Pa. -- Aided by a whopping 58-3 advantage in shots on goal Sunday, Nazareth dominated Lebanon Valley in women's hockey action in recording a 3-0 victory in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play.
Jessica Kollberg,
Rae Rice and
Nikolle Van Stralen each had goals as the Golden Flyers won their third straight game to improve to 12-2-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Lebanon Valley also lost to Utica Saturday and dropped to 3-11-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the UCHC.
Despite a 16-1 edge in shots on goal, Nazareth was held scoreless in the opening period and didn't break through until 9:19 of the second period wen Kollberg converted on the power play. LVC's Taylor Borrelli was penalized for holding at 8:24 and Kiollberg capitalized to score her second goal of the season off an assist from freshman
Olivia Miller-Johnson.
The Golden Flyers made it 2-0 before the period ended as Rice scored for the fifth time with an assist from
Maria Di Cresce.
Van Strahlen scored Nazareth's third goal, at 10:36 of the third period, with assists from
Stephanie Kubis and
Keeley Rose.
Sophomore
Noelle Giroux made her fourth straight of the season in goal and made three routine saves. She has yet to allow a goal this season.
Nazareth is home for a pair of conference games next weekend. The Golden Flyers host Manhattanville Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Neumann Saturday at 1.
