Deirdre Brett leads Nazareth to a 7th Place finish

CLINTON, NY – Junior Deirdre Brett posted a career-best time with a 16:12.7 to lead the Nazareth College women's cross country team to a seventh place team finish Saturday morning at the Hamilton College Short Course race.

Roberts Wesleyan won the event with 27 points and Ithaca (44 points) was second followed by Hamilton (112), Brockport (157), LeMoyne (160), St. John Fisher (169) and Nazareth (172). The Golden Flyers finished ahead of Cortland (172), Utica (237) and Oneonta (243).

Brett was the top Nazareth finisher and nearly nine seconds off her previous best 4K time with her 23rd place finish. Sophomore Claire Bargabos was next for Nazareth with her 30th place finish in 16:17.5. Freshman Megan Morin clocked a 16:33.9 as the third finisher for the Golden Flyers and sophomore Erin Reyner was next with her personal best of 16:36.8 - nearly 20 seconds better than her previous best time for the 4K distance. Freshman Emily Weaver rounded out the Nazareth scoring with her time of 17:07.5.

For the second straight week, the scoring runners for Nazareth finished with a span of less than a minute.

Nazareth competes next at the Harry Anderson Invitational September 21 at Roberts Wesleyan.
