GENESEO, NY – Junior Deirdre Brett raced to a 49th place finish to lead the Nazareth College women's cross country team to a 16th place team finish Saturday afternoon at the 41st Annual Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo and held at Letchworth State Park.
Brett shaved nearly 20 seconds off her time in last year's Mike Woods and finished with a 24:43.4. It was her best 6K time since the Rowan race last year.
Geneseo won the team competition with 37 points followed by RIT (75) and Rochester (85). Nazareth was 16th with 460 points and finished ahead of SUNY Poly, Keuka, Corning CC, D'Youville and Canton in the 21-team event.
Junior Kaitlyn Dobbertin was the second Nazareth finisher followed by freshmen Mackenzie Carney, Carolyn Carlic and Madeline Dovi. The four runners crossed the line within a minute of each other with Dobbertin leading the way with her time of 27:08.1.
The Golden Flyers will race next at the Highlander Invitation next weekend at Houghton.
