HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored the first seven goals of the game and led 20-1 after three quarters as the Golden Flyers dominated Houghton in an Empire 8 Conference men's lacrosse game, 27-2.
Seventeen different players scored goals for the Golden Flyers, who snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in conference games. Houghton is 4-11 overall and 0-6 in the E8.
Jeremy Jacob led the Golden Flyers with four goals and one assist and
Anthony Basile added three goals.

Mike Riis,
Jon Parrinello,
Dakota Allis and
Nik Holdsworth each scored twice.
Tim Vinton won 15 of 17 face-offs and collected 13 ground balls. Jared Migliore won nine of 11 draws and had seven ground balls.
Nazareth's first three goals came in a 62-second span in the opening period with
Jon Lippert scoring first off an assist from
Jon Roth, who followed with a goal off a pass from
Kevin Hussey. A goal by Vanliew made it 3-0.
Jacob scored three of his goals before the quarter ended as the lead continued to grow.
Nazareth added six more goals in the second quarter and five more in the third to stretch the lead to 20-1. Basile had all three of his goals in the second quarter and Holdsworth added a pair of goals in the third.
Riis scored twice in the fourth quarter and
Griffin Avery contributed three assists as Nazareth scored seven more times.
Nazareth had large statistical advantages in shots (51-18), ground balls (62-20) and face-off wins (26-5). Three Nazareth goalies --
Eric Almquist,
David Walk and
Alex Winkler -- combined for six saves.
Nazareth plays in final regular-season home game Saturday at 1 p.m. against Sage. The Golden Flyers will honors its five seniors -- Basile,
Jack Crowley,
Jordan Goldbourn,
Cory Mason and Riis.
